From book3.jpg: "The Blood Angels Librarians (including Mephiston) will be able to use psychic disciplines from the regulation 40K book instead of the ones in your codex. If you choose to do this, create two new powers from the disciplines of Biomancy, Divination, Telepathy, or Telekinesis (in any combination) before deploying the armies.
(I'm not translating the "Mat says" things in italics since I don't think they're too important)
Codex: Chaos Space Marines Any model with psychic powers may use Psychic Disciplines in the regulation 40K book instead of the ones in the CSM Codex. If you do this, for every power purchased in the CSM Codex, generate a new power from the disciplines of Pyromancy, Telekinesis, or Telephathy before you deploy the armies."
And I don't want to translate word-for-word the translation of the Psychic Discipline cards, so suffice to say it's basically the same as what Fritz posted when he was talking about Eldar and the Psychic Disciplines. Otherwise, there you have it. I'll comment later about what I think this all means.
Nice preview! What's with Eldar only getting 2 checks in the psychic chart? I thought they were the masters of psychic abilities and yet they only have 2 psychic "tree's" to pull powers from? Kinda weird since Guard have more psychic options on that chart. Oh well. I'll have to wait and see I suppose.
Ok, so at first this really pissed me off also, but consider this...
The two powers they do get are rumored to be from the better schools AND they are still the only army that can throw up 4D6 on a psychic test with two runes of warding that will effect the entire table- unless the 6th rulebook or FAQ nurfs this.
This could be a HUGE boost to Eldar since guys are going to be abusing all the psychic powers imperial armies get.
If powers become so game breaking that everybody takes them as an auto-win what happens when they can't cast them if effectivly if you bring two farseers with runes.
I'm pumped since my Saim-Hann have possibly gotten way better, and if the missions are more then just objectives and lining up tanks the speed and mobility of my units is another win.
With respect to Eldar, I'm hoping the mighty Warlock might have access to these new powers (not to mention the Shadow Seer). All sorts of potential for new shenanigans.
could you keep with the powers mephiston has in codex or would i have to take the new ones? will have to download a lot of new FAQ's off gw site soon i think
Of course space marines and guard get more powers than eldar.
Every update has made the Eldar more and more unplayable. Whether it's ramping up the points they cost per unit or making everyone except them better, you can always guarantee that the Eldar are going to get 'effed in the a', as it were.
You'll notice that, despite the fluff constantly saying how fast and flighty they are, they have no flying vehicles (even the friggin marines have a flyer now?!), and no real effective way of combating air-superiority of stupidly underpriced Valkyries.
So I am in no way surprised that the Eldar have been bummed into sillysville on the OTHER one thing that the fluff says they are the best at.
OMG - Sweet. Gosh I need everything! - Glad i have a ton of credit at the FLGS.
ReplyDeleteNot long now :D

This is such a tease and shouldn't be allowed Fritz! :p
ReplyDeleteI hear you!
DeleteI can't wait a week!
Driving me crazy with cool ideas!
Longest Week Ever. I need to see how rules work out for Allies, because Dark Eldar supported by their "Normal" Kin would be the most fun lists to run.

Question is- do jetbikes still move 24"?
Fast skimmers always get a cover save?
etc.
Fun times ahead!
This is interesting to me. I did not know runes stacke like that. Was it FAQ'd recently to allow up to 4d6 leadership tests?
DeleteLooks good! Cant wait to see what else 6th Ed unfolds!

ReplyDeleteAgreed, if warlocks get psychic powers, even being limited to just the two lores then that would be awesome!

ReplyDeleteI love how they've used all the dark heresy categories. and if anyone has seen the leaked white dwarf, I'm so glad they've brought back allies
ReplyDeleteWTF!?! Guard get more psychic powers than Eldar!
